Preparing for Kenya is exciting, but there is a lot to think about as your departure date approaches. Once your placement is confirmed, our team is your first point of contact. We answer questions, share practical advice, and help you feel ready before you fly.
Our coordinators know Nanyuki and the Laikipia region inside out — local culture and customs, weather, schools and clinics, homestays, visas, insurance, and health preparation. Think of us as your personal guide before travel: someone who knows your programme, your dates, and what to expect on arrival.
You are not left to figure things out alone. You have a friendly point of contact who knows your booking details and checks in as your departure approaches — with reminders, updates, and answers by email or phone when you need them. Our in-country team in Nanyuki then takes over from the moment you land.
Visit a travel clinic or your doctor 6–8 weeks before departure for advice on vaccinations and malaria prevention. Arrange comprehensive travel and medical insurance. Tell us about allergies, medications, or support needs in advance so we can plan appropriately.
Bring a mix of payment options (card and some cash). You will be able to withdraw local currency and buy a SIM or eSIM in Kenya. We cover accommodation and meals on programme days; budget separately for personal spending, weekends, and souvenirs.
